What we collect, why, how long we keep it, who can see it, and how to ask us to delete it. We try to collect as little as possible.
What we collect
It depends on what you do:
| When you… | We keep |
|---|---|
| Scan a website | The address you entered and the checklist result (scores, findings and short details from the page, such as its title or the response headers we read). Not a copy of the page and no visitor data. Stored behind your share link. |
| Place a fix-pack order | Your name, email, website address, notes, chosen package, the order status history, whether you chose to apply the fixes yourself or to let us do it (and, for the second choice, your platform name and that you ticked the backup box), the time you accepted the terms, and a shortened one-way hash of your IP address. |
| Ask us to apply a fix pack for you | You invite our work email on your own platform. We never receive or store a password, recovery code or login code. While the invite lasts we can see and change only what your pack covers; you can remove us at any time. We keep a short before-and-after note of what we changed. |
| Order a website or ask for a quote | All of the above, plus what you tell us in the form: business name and type, goals, pages wanted, whether your content is ready, who approves, your domain choice and any domain name you give us. |
| Send us feedback | The star rating (1 to 5), your comment if you wrote one, your email only if you typed one (so we can reply), whether you came from an order page, the time you ticked the consent box, and the time we received it. No IP address is stored with feedback. See "Feedback you send us" below. |
| Visit any page | Our host handles your IP address and request details to serve the page (see "Who sees it"). For rate limiting we use your IP address briefly in memory, or as the shortened hash described above. |
If you pay through PayPal, PayPal handles your login and card details on its own page. We receive and keep only the result: the PayPal transaction (capture) id, the amount, PayPal's fee and whether it succeeded, so we can match the payment to your order. PayPal's own privacy policy applies to what you give PayPal.
We do not collect passwords, API tokens, login codes or card numbers through this website. Please do not put them in the notes box.
Fingerprints and claims
When we deliver an order, the server records a fingerprint: a SHA-256 hash (a short code computed from the content) of each delivered file and of the ZIP, the delivery time, and what our scan found at scan time and at delivery. We keep it only to check claims fairly: if you ask for a free fix or a refund we compare your site and the package you used with that record, so that a delivery that was changed afterwards cannot be used to fake a defect. The hashes do not contain your files or personal details, and you never see or send them. If you file a claim we also keep what you send (your description, the page address, screenshot link, the checker re-run link, and whether you changed files), the result of our re-check and our decision. A package you upload or paste for checking is compared and is not stored; only the result is. This is part of the order record and follows the same retention and deletion rules (see below).
Feedback you send us
The feedback form asks for a rating from 1 to 5 stars. A comment and an email address are optional, and you must tick a consent box before you can send it.
- What is stored: the rating, the comment, the email (only if you typed one), where you came from (the site or an order page), and when you sent it. One small record per message. Your IP address is not stored with it; to stop spam it is counted briefly in memory only (at most 5 messages per hour per network).
- How long: 365 days, then it is deleted automatically. You can ask us to delete it earlier at the contact address below; we will need the approximate time and what you wrote so we can find it.
- Who sees it: only the owner, in the password-protected owner page. It is never published automatically. If we would like to quote a comment on this site, we ask you first, and we only publish it with your permission. Until then this site shows no testimonials.
- Alerts: if the owner alert is switched on, it carries only the fact that feedback arrived and its star rating: never the comment, the email or any identifier of yours.
Why we use it
- To run your scan, show your share link, and reply to you about your order.
- To deliver what you ordered and keep a record of the order, the price and the terms version you accepted.
- To limit abuse (rate limits on scans and orders) and keep the service working.
- To tell the owner about a new order: a short alert is sent to the owner's own notification tool. It contains the order number, package, website address, status, time, whether payment is enabled and (for website orders) only the single word own, buy or none for the domain choice. It does not contain your name, email, notes, domain text or order link.
How long we keep it
| Data | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Scan results and cached fix-pack previews | 30 days, then they expire automatically. |
| Order and quote records | Up to 24 months after the order is delivered or closed, then deleted by the owner (or earlier if you ask). |
| Delivery fingerprints and claim records (hashes of delivered files and of the ZIP, the delivery time, scan snapshots, and, if you file a claim, your claim text, evidence links, re-run result, our verification result and our decision) | Kept with the order record: up to 24 months after the order is delivered or closed, then deleted by the owner (or earlier if you ask and no claim is open). |
| Feedback (rating, comment, optional email, consent time) | 365 days from the day you send it, then it is deleted automatically (the storage expires it). The owner can delete it earlier, and will if you ask. |
| Rate-limit counters (hashed IP) | About one hour. |
Honest note: order records are not deleted automatically yet. The owner deletes them by hand (there is an owner tool for it), so please ask if you want yours gone sooner.
Who sees it
- The owner sees your orders, quotes and notes in the owner page.
- Cloudflare hosts this website and stores the data (their key-value storage) and processes request details such as your IP address when serving pages. Your own website, if we build it, also lives in your Cloudflare account.
- PayPal will process payments once payment is switched on; PayPal then sees what you pay and your payment details. We do not receive or store your card number.
- Nobody else, unless the law requires us to share it.
Third-party services
- Cloudflare: hosting and storage; the account your finished site lives in.
- PayPal (not yet switched on): payments.
- Google PageSpeed: only if you tick the optional PageSpeed box when scanning, the address you entered is sent to Google to run the test.
- Registrars and booking tools that you choose yourself have their own policies.
- The page assistant runs in your browser; what you type into it is not sent to us or to anyone.
Each of these has its own terms and privacy policy. We do not control them.
Cookies and tracking
This website sets no cookies and has no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts (we tested for cookies; see the README). It saves two small things in your own browser, not sent anywhere: your light/dark theme choice (browser local storage), and, only on the owner page, the owner's password for the open tab (cleared when the tab closes). If this ever changes, we will update this page first.
No selling of data
We do not sell your data, rent it out, or use it for advertising.
Your choices and deletion requests
You can ask us to see, correct or delete the data we hold about you. Email sitecheck.support@gmail.com from the email address on your order, with your order number, and say what you want. We reply within 30 days and, for a deletion request, delete the order record (name, email, notes, intake) from our storage. Scan results expire by themselves after 30 days. We may keep the minimum we must keep by law (for example a payment record once payments exist). Alert messages that already reached the owner's notification tool contain no name or email.
Your rights may depend on where you live; this page does not claim to meet any particular law.
Children
This website and our services are for adults and businesses. They are not meant for children, and we do not knowingly collect children's data. If you think a child has sent us information, tell us and we will delete it.
Changes
This policy may change at any time. We update this page when it does; the "Last updated" date shows the version, and we record the version you accepted when you place an order. Please check it from time to time.
